In the upland of the Atacama Desert, The Atacamean people has lived from 11,000 years ago. Where ancient traditions and costumes are performed which have an influence from the taywanaco, Incaic and Spanish cultures, Which created a peculiar culture where the characteristics are joined and costumes coexist which remain until today, and whit this a life style that has not been greatly altered by the globalization of today’s world.
			The Atacamean man has the conviction of feeling united to the environment that surrounds him (the earth, the water, the vegetation, the sum, the mountain and the animals.) It is man that sees times passes by, with no great concerns, observing his traditions and beliefs with a simple life style.
In San Pedro de Atacama and in the towns of the precordillera, it can be appreciated a building style that does not vary in its design, but it does in the building materials; the main towns have a central square with public buildings and houses around these.
There is also an agriculture that has not changed in its shape since the very first Atacamean peoples, taking the most advantage of the water resource, as it is a very valuable resource by the original people and defended until today. In San Pedro de Atacama are grown products like maize, pumpkin, broad beans, potatoes and garlic. There is also breeding for the house consumption, poultry birds (coward, duck, turkey and goose), and the breeding of livestock (goats, sheep, camelid and cattle).
